Canada Research Project
Provinces and Territories Research Project
Dear Parents/Guardians:
We have been learning about the provinces and territories of Canada in class. Your child will be completing a research project on one of the provinces and territories. They will be given class time to complete the project, but may have to put some finishing touches on their projects at home.
There will be two students assigned to most provinces or territories. Your child may work with the other student assigned to their province or territory in order to gather research on their selected political region. However the final project must be completed individually. The research for their project will come mostly from the internet and curriculum related handouts that we use for Social Studies.
The final project is to be presented on as a power point presentation. It is due on ________________________. The project needs to include the following information:
1) The name of the province or territory.
2) The name of the capital city, and any major rivers or lakes labeled on a map.
3) The populations of the major cities, as well as the provinces’ total population.
4) A description of the physical region that the province belongs to. If the province or territory belongs to more than one region, your child needs to include a brief description of each physical region.
5) The environment/climate of the province/territory.
6) A picture of the animal and the flower that is representative of the province/territory.
7) The natural resources of the province.
8) The province or territories’ flag.
9) Industries or products that the province or territory is known for and economic contribution.
10) Year of Confederation.
11) Any interesting facts about the province.
We will start presentations in class on ____________________.
Thank you,
Mrs. Conder
